First day of School

How can she possibly be old enough to be in 1st grade??? Well she was super excited and ready for her first day. I know she will do great! Sarah was very excited to be going back to school and ready for her last year before she starts Kindergarten. So hard to believe how big they both are getting!                                        

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Soccer!

We have begin soccer season. Emily is in her 2nd year and Sarah is starting her 1st year. It seems every year we have a rainy, wet opening day...This year was so exception. Emily played her game in the drizzly rain. 

 But right at the beginning of Sarah's game, it started to pour down!  There was about 2 inches of rain in one of our chairs. Sarah played so well! She kept going through the mud and rain. She fell down and kept going...mud and all. As she was coming off the field she said, "Mommy I am dirty!"

Is this our world?

We took the girls on a short vacation to Branson. Sarah kept asking us if this was our world? Everywhere we went she would ask us. It felt like a different world...no worries, just time together. It was great! To spend time with these great little girls who are quickly becoming wonderful young ladies. I can't wait to see what God has in store for their little lives, but....We took them to White Water for the first time I was glad that we had a couple of weeks of swim lessons under our belts so that they could feel very comfortable in and around the water.

Emily went down every single water slide she possibly could. She wanted to go down as fast as she could, as much as she could.  Sarah's favorite ride....the lazy river. She just loved to float around, over and over again!

Then we went to Silver Dollar City! Of course, Emily wants to ride every single roller coaster she can. The very last day Sarah finally decieded to try some of the other roller coaster. It is so much fun as they get older to see them trying new stuff and grow up right before our eyes.

While Sarah waited on Emily to ride all the "fast" rollercoaster, she decieded to plot our next route.

At the very end Sarah decieded to ride the little roller coaster. She was a little bit too short just to ride with her sister, but the guy let her do it anyways...

The girls' recital went off without a hitch. I had my fingers crossed that no one would fall down or get scared or forget the steps.  They both did great! I was so proud of my little dancers :)

 

Splash Park

Splash Park!

It sure is getting hot here! Grandpa came down for a visit and after we finished dance lessons, swim lessons, gymnastic lessons, and Tball games we went to enjoy a relaxing day at the splash park! The girls sure were having a lot of fun. Sarah has gotten a better about getting her face and hair wet. So exciting and sad to see how big they both are getting.

Mother's Day part 2

Well last week was all about Emily. Now it is all about Sarah. If I know how Emily will react to a situation, I have no idea about Sarah.

Dear Sarah,

My little baby Sarah...I know that no matter how old you get you will always be my baby. As I look at you, I know that God has great things in store for you. He has given you an enormous heart that I see in how you treat those little ones under your care (real or imagined). He has also given you such a strength of will. I feel no fear that any one will ever be able to get you to do something you don't want to. I also know that when you set your mind to something you will do it.

I love to just cuddle with you. You will just let me hold you and love on you. It is the best. I see how big you are getting and get so sad for the day when you will be too big to fit on my lap. Even your little words "Mommy, I'll always be your baby," bring such comfort to my heart. You are such a joy, even when you are testing the very limits of my sanity, know I love you always. My baby Sarah, I love you so.

 

Mother's Day

Yes...I know that it is incredibly late for Mother's Day, but it has been so busy with graduation and the end of the school year. I read on pinterest about writing a letter to your children each year on Mother's Day. I decieded that since this is where I have been putting some of my thoughts about our wild, crazy lives that I would write my letters here. So here it goes...

Dear Emily,

I look at how you have grown up this past year and I am so amazed. Poor child, the more I see you, the more I realize how much you act just like me! Even how you get upset, you act just like your mommy. I'm sorry :) I know as you get older you will hate to hear this, so I will stop saying this as you grow.  But there are times your Daddy and I just look at you and can see Mommy!

I love how much you love everyone. There is really no one who is not your friend. You love everyone so much! It just thrills my heart to see how much you care. You just care about everyone and don't care how they look or have or say...you just care. As I watch you take these steps out from under our protection and into this big, hard world, that others will see your big heart and keep it safe. That others will realize how much a treasure it is to have such a big heart and not work to make it hard.

As a parent there is such a joy in seeing your child suceed and soar in things they love. I watch you read and see you discovering all the great things you find in books. I love to see this world opening up to you. I also watch you discovering soccer, tball, and dancing. I wonder what you will soon grow to love...it has been a year of letting go and discovering. I am learning to let go a little bit and realizing I can't keep you safe from every little thing, and  you starting to discover who you are, who you will turn out to be. I am so excited to see you grow up and so proud of the young lady you are becoming. Our little princess!!
